Hotel developments

In Nassau / Paradise Island, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville brand recently announced a $ 250 million investment in a six-acre site for the already initiated construction of the Margaritaville Beach Resort at The Pointe with 150 hotel rooms, 150 luxury residences, a marina, water park, entertainment center, food and beverages signed with the Margaritaville brand. The project is scheduled to begin in mid-2019. The Pointe will also include a 45-foot yacht marina and 24,000-square-foot commercial space.

After four months of refurbishment, RIU Palace Paradise Island of 379 rooms reopened at the end of 2017 as an adult resort, also annexing the Indian restaurant Chutney.

Thanks to Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, guests at The Cove already enjoy the new Sip Sip Restaurant, the first outpost of iconic Harbor Island. But the news for the destination does not stop there: chef and celebrity Jose Andres has revealed Fish, its latest restaurant and a new exclusive seaplane program promises to connect guests with the Out Islands.

While the Rosewood hotel is scheduled to open in the spring of 2018, the SLS opened in November and joined the Grand Hyatt, premiered in April as the second hotel to be opened in the Baha Mar megaresort. The luxury property boasts 300 rooms including 107 residences, world class decor and a variety of dining and nightlife experiences. The three exclusive hotel brands will share entertainments such as the Caribbean’s largest casino, an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course, 30,000 m² SPA ESPA, the largest convention center in the Caribbean and more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges.

The iconic Great Exuma hotel, Peace & Plenty Hotel, underwent a renovation after being acquired in 2017 by SMS Lodging. New owners Exuma, Steve & Patrick Harrington and Burton Rodgers worked in the final stages of revitalization, which included a complete modernization of the convenience structure. Located in George Town, the resort will open in April and features 32 oceanfront rooms, a pool, restaurant, two bars and a dock along Elizabeth Harbor Harbor.

Tiger Wood’s TGR Design joins Jack’s Bay Developers to develop Jack’s Bay, a luxury beachfront resort and private club at Rock Sound on Eleuthera Island. A 10-hole golf course called “The Playgrounds” is already underway as is The Pink House Beach Club, with a restaurant and bar expected to debut this year. Additional plans are in place for an 18-hole course, and more resort news, including oceanfront suites, villas and villas.

Festivals and Seasonal Events

From February 1st to 3rd the 4th Annual Blue Marlin Cove Bahamas Wahoo Classic took place. The tournament promotes a competitive fishing atmosphere in search of a species of fish that is not in danger and can not be caught commercially. The tournament offers a cash prize of $ 15,000.
