New partnership between Airbnb and World Surfing League

The partnership offers exclusive experiences for over 20 unique surfing destinations around the world. Brazil is one of the destinations included, mainly Rio de Janeiro, which has a third of the activities offered on the platform.

The Airbnb platform, in 2016, had already partnered with the League to offer unique space options for travelers in major surfing destinations. Now, the aim is to bring travelers unique and local surfing experiences, and that by the end of the year there will be new experiences.

The rise in surfing popularity in Brazil in recent years has been followed by an increase in demand for surfers seeking ideal accommodation in surfing communities along the Brazilian coast.

“Airbnb and surfing are two things that naturally go hand in hand and that is why we are so proud of partnering with WSL in these new Experiences,” said Leo Tristão, Airbnb Director General in Brazil.

National destinations

Destinations in the Northeast, such as Tibau do Sul (including Pipa) and Ipojuca (includes Porto de Galinhas and Maracaípe), and places in the South and Southeast, including Matinhos, Imbituba, Guarujá, Ubatuba, Maresias and Saquarema, are on the rise and have grown average of 108% in the arrival of guests compared to last year
