A trip for food lovers

If at the time of planning a trip you think about the gastronomic options that the destination presents, Bariloche should be one of its obligatory destinations. The small town of Patagonia Argentina offers many options for lovers of beers, chocolates, meats, fish and teas.

Food of the Gods

One of Bariloche’s most famous tourist attractions is homemade chocolate. Considered the national capital of chocolate, the city offers several chocolatiers with a wide choice of flavors and mixtures for the sweet. Besides the visitors can follow the process of creating these delicacies up close, it is also possible to visit the museum built in honor of what was once considered the “food of the gods.”

The main street in downtown Bariloche is an irresistible and authentic “chocolate walk”. This is where the National Chocolate Festival takes place during Holy Week.

Liquid Gold

Another craft product that gains more and more recognition, are the beers. The city has several breweries that strive to create different and unique drinks.

The options of flavors are plural and for all palates. There are approximately 25 enterprises between bars and factories dedicated to drinking. The estimate is that more than two million liters of beer are produced per year

Millenarian technique

Lovers of a good meal can enjoy the typical Patagonian dishes. Unlike the ground barbecues of the Pampas region of Patagonia, trout and salmon are very common in the region’s lakes, as well as sheep and wild boars. Very widespread in Chile, the technique called curanto can also be found in the preparation of local foods. In it, a hole of approximately 15cm is dug in the ground, hot stones are placed and the food cooks in that natural oven for some hours. The technique is millenarian and influenced by the native peoples – it is in the picturesque Swiss colony, a few minutes from the center of Bariloche.

Walking through the center of Bariloche you can find several tea houses, which besides the drink offer several options of sweet and salty. A great order for an afternoon snack.
