Airline and technology provider team up to test IATA’s One Order standard

Anything that manages less paperwork and makes travel easier is always welcome. That is why we are proud to partner with British Airways to pilot the new IATA standard One Order. Airlines are selling more complementary services and using more elaborate merchandising techniques. This means that accounting and operations procedures need to evolve. The One Order is just that. It provides this information for revenue accounting in a structured and real-time manner.

This standard replaces multiple booking, ticketing, delivery, and accounting methods with a single order management process. The default will result in the phasing out of multiple records, which will be replaced with only one travel document.

Feedback on this pilot will be shared with IATA and other professionals to contribute to the development of the standard. Introduce new models in an industry as complex as the travel demands time and also the participation of this industry.

By partnering with British Airways, we will be able to test the One Order process from start to finish, linking our technology with British Airways’ travel system. This is only possible because our unique approach within the travel industry allows the operational and financial sides of IATA’s One Order to be tested with Revenue Accounting from the creation of the offers to the financial one.

Amadeus technology connects the travel industry and enhances journeys for travelers around the world. This ensures transparency, choice and simplicity for travelers and offers our customers the tools to grow and be more efficient. It is therefore important for Amadeus that industry standards be developed in collaboration, taking into account the challenges and needs of the industry as a whole.

The pilot is currently in the development stage and testing has already begun. Stay tuned for updates on the pilot’s progress.
