Airline company puts internet on board in half of its fleet

GOL celebrates one year of the launch of the GOL Online platform – the most complete connectivity and entertainment system on the market. The service, which enables satellite internet connection, is already present in 60 aircraft, half of the company’s fleet, totaling more than 250 thousand accesses in this period and, on average, more than 5 thousand daily visits to the portal, making possible customers stay connected throughout the flight period.
The satellite technology allows coverage on all company flights, from the closing of the aircraft doors to the opening on arrival at the destination. With the GOL Online system, the customer can also enjoy a vast free catalog of onboard entertainment, which contains series, movies, drawings and flight map.
The forecast is that, by the end of 2018, the entire fleet will be equipped with GOL Online connectivity and entertainment system. The installation of the antenna, located at the top of the aircraft, is being carried out at the company’s Maintenance Center in Confins (MG), with about 90 technicians involved in carrying out this activity.
In this one year, the process was optimized and the average installation time dropped by half, and today it takes only 4 days to complete all the steps and implementation of the system. Airplanes with the available service are identified at the entrance of the aircraft and also internally with the “GOL Online” seal.
