Atlanta has the most efficient airport in the world

The largest airport in the United States, Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta, is also the most efficient airport in the world, according to the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) ranking. The agency awarded the Excellence in Efficiency Award for the 14th consecutive time to the Georgia Capital Airport.

Hartsfield-Jackson received more than 100 million passengers in 2015 (year analyzed by the last study of the organ), 20 million more than the second most visited: Chicago O’Hare in Illinois. The surprise comes from La Guardia and JFK, both in New York, placed in the last position of their respective groups.

Still among the Americans, Minneapolis-St. Paul topped the list of 25-40 million passengers. Vancouver International Airport in Canada was the first to reach 10 to 25 million pax. Below the 10 million, Hawaiian Kahului was the one who won the award.

In Europe, the highlight was Athens International Airport in Greece, while in Asia, Jeju International in South Korea was the star. Sydney airport in Australia ended with the award in the category of Oceania.

The list ranks 206 airports around the globe, but excludes South America, 82 from the United States and Canada, 71 from Europe, 38 from Asia and 15 from Oceania. They are separated into 24 categories according to the region and the number of passengers received annually.
