Bahia expects more than 2 million tourists for Carnival

On the carnival holiday, Bahia expects 2.1 million tourists, according to official figures. The number includes Bahians, travelers from other states and also foreigners, from countries like Argentina, Spain and the United States.

“Our expectation is that visitors leave R $ 2.3 billion in the state, moving the economy of sectors linked to tourism, as the hotel network,” explains the Secretary of Tourism of Bahia, José Alves.

Regions
In Salvador, where it is estimated that 650 thousand tourists spend R $ 715 million, hotels near the Campo Grande, Barra and Ondina circuits should reach 95% occupancy until the carnival.

The means of lodging located in other districts of the city, such as Red River and Pituba have reservations in the 90% range, according to the president of the Bahia Federation of Lodging and Food (FEBHA), Sílvio Pessoa.
Itacaré, one of the destinations of the Cacao Coast, records an average of 90% occupancy and should receive 20 thousand visitors.

In Ilheus, the eight thousand beds should be reserved until the holiday. According to the president of the Cocoa Coast Convention Bureau, Marco Lessa, most hotels and inns already have 100% reservation rate, with availability in smaller locations.

In addition, Praia do Forte hotels have already guaranteed 82% occupancy in the period from 9 to 14 February. In Porto Seguro, the average expectation is over 90%, combined with other regions such as Trancoso and Arraial D’Ajuda. The municipality of Mucugê, in the Chapada Diamantina, already has 100% occupancy and there is still possibility of stocking in the municipality of Lençóis.
