Crystalline sea and paraglider attract tourists to the Turkish coast

Ölüdeniz means “dead sea”, but unlike the large lake that is in the Middle East, its name has nothing to do with the concentration of salt. The main feature of water is its lull. Even in times of winds and rain, the water remains calm, making it suitable for swimming and water sports.

The seaside resort of Ölüdeniz is located 800 km from Istanbul and is situated in an area of environmental protection, bathed by the Mediterranean. The clear blue water and the white sand attract tourists from all over the world in this region, where the Babba Dagi mountain is located almost 2,000 meters high. It is from this mountain that the paraglider flights leave, a kind of parachute that allows more control and time in the air. Flights last on average 20-40 minutes. While doing this tour, it is possible to have a wonderful aerial view of the resort, which is full of people in the air.

It is in Ölüdeniz that there is the famous Blue Lagoon (Blue Lagoon), which due to staying in an environmental protection area is necessary to pay a small fee to access it. In the place is offered chairs and umbrellas, in addition to own restaurants and bars for tourists. The environment is very familiar and in summer temperatures reach 40 degrees.

Besides the beach and the flights, it is possible to visit the village of Kayakoy, which is a few kilometers from the beach. Kayakoy is a ghost town that was abandoned during the Greco-Turkish War, which lasted from 1919 – 1923. The war was for the partition of the old Ottoman Empire and Kayakoy was in the middle of everything. Today the city functions as an open-air museum with ruins of houses and churches.
