Full of the Seine River affects Parisian tourism

The volume of the Seine continued to increase on Sunday (28) in Paris. The situation paralyzed tourist activity in the region and about 1,500 people were removed from their homes.

The flood is lower than that recorded in June 2016 (6.10 m), when there were serious floods in the French capital, and it is not approaching the dreaded record of 1910, when the Seine reached 8.62 meters.

The water reached on Sunday the height of the thigh of the famous statue of a zuavo warrior on the bridge of Alma, which serves as reference to Parisians to measure the flood of the river.

In the Eiffel Tower area, tourist boats are anchored after the ban on sailing.

The banks of the Seine, frequented by pedestrians and cyclists, as well as the docks – some that serve as entrance to floating restaurants – are under water.

After an incident on Saturday (27), when two people were observed sailing in a canoe, authorities recalled that navigation is prohibited and warned of the danger of using any type of vessel under current conditions. The water shortage may be “very, very slow,” warned Colombe Brossel, deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security in Paris.
