Ilhabela to host Sustainability Award in 2018

One year in advance, Braztoa announced that Ilhabela, a destination on the north coast of São Paulo, will be the city that will receive the sixth edition of the Braztoa Sustainability Prize in 2018 along with the Braztoa Convention. The agreement was signed with representatives of the destination, who celebrated the opportunity to host the event.
“This is an unprecedented action for Braztoa to announce our next Prize in advance. Ilha Bela is a destination that also has sustainability as a pillar for tourism, which grows a lot and tries to show its attractions in different ways, “said Magda Nassar, president of Braztoa.
The idea of taking the association event to Ilhabela was from the destination itself, which this year hosted the National Sustainable Tourism Forum, which was held by Monica Samia, CEO of Braztoa, as one of the speakers. From that began the negotiations.
According to the representatives of Ilhabela, Michael Coleman, CVB president, Leopoldo Pedalini, president of the Commercial and Business Association, and Luciano Menegueti, Director of Projects of the Secretariat of Tourism, the destination is trying to change its position in tourism. The idea to focus on ecotourism and other niches, since the sun and beach is already consolidated. The Braztoa event will help in the dissemination of this new identification.
