Several flights from the New Zealand region have been canceled due to lack of fuel resulting from a rupture in a pipeline that carried kerosene to Auckland airport and is now undergoing repairs. Long-haul flights have made stops in other countries to supply, which has affected more than 2,000 passengers per day.
The leak was found in the 170-kilometer pipeline linking the oil refinery in northern Auckland to the city’s airport. With fuel disruption, local airplanes are working to adapt and consume less fuel over the next few days.
