Bariloche reaches 82% occupation during January

The number of tourists who arrived in Bariloche, whether by airports or highways increased in this first month of the year. This meant that the average hotel occupancy reached 82%, that is, 29,000 beds – 5% up on the same month of the previous year. This growth represented an economic movement of approximately R $ 115 million (700 million pesos), according to the Rio Negro Tourist Observatory.

According to local businessmen, these figures are strictly related to the city’s competitive pricing, and the promotion policies implemented during 2017.

The Association of Gastronomic Hotels pointed out that Bariloche “is very competitive at national level, with good services and infrastructure, with diversification in all tourism segments and competitive prices, besides being well positioned in relation to the per capita tourist visiting the region “. These indicators also hold for the month of February, which is key to extending the peak summer season.

The EMPROTUR – Tourism Promotion Agency of the city – develops an annual plan that, during the summer, contemplates the beginning of the campaigns in October of the previous year, in its three main markets: Argentina, Brazil and Chile. Executive Director Diego Piquín explained that “each campaign has a specific objective and seeks a concrete result. According to the time of year, we begin between two and three months before each campaign, segmenting the message according to the audience we are targeting “This, and the private sector’s effort in terms of pricing and service improvement, allows us to enjoy a good season.”

The airport of Bariloche recorded an average of 18 flights a day during the month of January, with the entry of 60,002 passengers, according to information from the National Civil Aviation Administration of Argentina. The novelty is the direct flights from LATAM that connect Bariloche and Santiago de Chile three times a week and the Cordoba and Mendoza flights from Flybondi.

The convenient prices of hotels and gastronomy in the region justified the large number of visits to the city, according to the president of the Hotel Gastronomic Association of Bariloche, Hugo De Barba. “Today we have lower prices for the cities of the Andean region and other destinations on the Atlantic coast that compete with Punta del Este.In the prices, we are equal or inferior, even from Buenos Aires. In addition, we have a series of activities to offer” , he said.

Entrepreneurs agree on the recovery of foreign tourism. “We are starting to welcome Brazilians in the summer, it is a more sporty segment, and we are also seeing the arrival of some Germans, French and Italians,” explains the president of the local Tourism Chamber, Felipe Orticcelli.
