Brazil promotes festival in Italy to pay homage to FEB fighters

The President of Embratur, Vinicius Lummertz presented, in audience at Planalto Palace, on Wednesday (17), the planning for the realization of the Festival Between Friends – Brazil and Italy, which will take place on April 25 in the city of Pistoia, Italy. The concept of the event, promoted by the autarchy together with the Ministry of Defense, is to pay homage to the combatants of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB), who served in the country during World War II.

The event will be part of the celebrations of the liberation of Italian cities by the Brazilian military forces (Italy was dominated by the Germans) and will include gastronomy, culture, music and tourism, with the promotion of Brazilian tourist products. Among the main objectives of the festival is the stimulus to the flow of tourists between the two countries. According to Lummertz, the festival will be a great opportunity to honor Brazilian soldiers, strengthen history and enhance national culture, as well as promote Destino Brasil in FEB’s presence in Italy.

The planning of the festival includes musical performances by Brazilian and Italian artists, gastronomic meetings with typical dishes of the two countries, press conferences, presence of Brazilian journalists and local media and public relations activities, as well as the “Caravana do homenagem” by the city ​​of Pistoia, with the presence of relatives of the “small squares”, as the Brazilian military was known, to follow closely the tributes.

The chief minister of the Office of Institutional Security of the President of the Republic, General Sérgio Etchegoyen, was very pleased with the proposals of the local authority for the festival and defined that, in early February, a working group will go to Italy for a technical visit to make the event viable. In March, another meeting will be held to define the final details.

The audience was attended by Alessandro Candeas, ambassador and chief of staff of the Ministry of Defense, representing the minister Raul Jungmann, the chief of staff of the secretary general of the presidency of the republic, Antonio Thomaz Lessa, Colonels Benetti and Leitão, the army and Duilio Malfatti, Secom’s Advertising and Promotion Secretary, as well as Embratur’s entourage, complemented by chief of staff Marcelo Costa, marketing director Walter Vasconcelos and Tiago Tomazella’s Digital Marketing Coordinator.
