Brazilians have already spent US $ 8.8 billion abroad this year

According to the information disclosed by the Central Bank, travelers from Brazil paid in foreign travel an amount that reaches US $ 8.8 billion. This amount translates into a solid increase of 34.8% in Brazilian expenses in other countries, compared to the first half of 2016, when the amount reached US $ 6.53 billion.

In order to get a sense of the difference in the year-to-year period, Brazilian spending abroad decreased by 16.5% in 2016, the lowest value in seven years. Meanwhile, the results referring only to the month of June of this year directly reflect the period of devaluation of the US dollar. So much that we spent the outside US $ 1.51 billion, increase of 10% compared to the same period last year (US $ 1.37 billion).

The BC, on the other hand, also disclosed the amount that the foreigners left in the country. In the first six months of the year, tourists spent US $ 3.05 billion in Brazil, down 3.07% compared to the same period in 2016, when spending totaled US $ 3.156 billion. In June, foreigners’ expenses in Brazil totaled US $ 377 million, down 6.21%. In June last year, the expenses of foreigners in Brazil reached US $ 402 million.
