Copacabana will have 17 minutes of fireworks on New Year’s Eve

The fireworks display in the traditional New Year’s Eve at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro will have 17 minutes to celebrate the arrival of 2018. The evening will also feature shows from Anitta, Frejat and the presence of the champions of Carnival 2017, Portela and Mocidade.
The audience that will accompany the burning of fires in the sands of Copacabana will take a new angle of the party: drones will fly over the pyrotechnic show and transmit the images to the big screens.
According to Rio’s mayoralty, last year, 2.7 million people came to Rio de Janeiro and moved more than R $ 2.2 billion. For this year, the goal is to grow 15%.
To keep tourism in the city warmer for longer, the city government has tightened up the schedule for this year’s New Year’s Eve, which will begin on December 26. Attractions include a Cirque du Soleil performance at the Olympic Park, and a Tabajara Orchestra show in Copacabana.
The program ends on January 6, with a parade on Avenida Atlântica in Copacabana, from the batteries of the 13 samba schools of the Special Group. They will go to the stage set for the New Year’s Eve party, to join the show of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra.
“This year’s New Year’s Eve will be exuberant. The city will double the number of municipal guards in Copacabana to keep the neighborhood without urban problems, “said Mayor Marcelo Crivella, announcing the details of the New Year.
