Corporation invests in children’s actions to secure future of aviation

Knowing the growth that aviation and Tourism will have with generational changes, Boeing, through initiatives focused on children, has been seeking to project the future of its activity. The biggest example in Brazil is the “Experimenting Design” workshop, which presents what is behind the operation of machines as complex as aircraft and encourages children to reproduce airplanes, helicopters and rockets using everyday materials.

The workshop acts as an impetus for Brazilian Tourism. The prospect is that today’s children travel much more than we do as adults. “In exact figures, we expect an annual growth of 4.7% in the number of air travel in the next two decades, which will result in the delivery of 41 thousand new aircraft globally,” said the company’s Corporate Responsibility coordinator, Eliane Porfírio. “In Latin America, the number of new aircraft is expected to be around three thousand new units,” he added.

However, this is only one of Boeing’s efforts. “We are partnering with education secretariats to enable public school teachers to apply the STEM teaching method in their classes,” said Eliane. This methodology; Which features the initials of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in English; Unites the four areas in an interdisciplinary way with a focus on the practical application of learning.

According to the executive, “the realization of the workshop is a stimulus tool for children and adolescents to engage in the disciplines. To later join professions related to the aeronautics industry and help develop it. ”

“In addition to encouraging children and adolescents to reflect on the main aerodynamic concepts influencing the operation of aerospace equipment, such as drag, lift and propulsion,” says the representative of Boeing. The practical application of these concepts occurs at the end of each activity, when the public is taken to an external area where it is possible to test the models.

The workshop is part of the exhibition “Design in Brazilian Aviation”, promoted by the Embraer Institute and the Museum of the Brazilian House, where it is headquartered. It happens on Saturdays from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will have three more editions, on the 5th, 12th and 19th of this month.
