End of zika epidemic makes luxury grow back in South America

Although the main gateways of South Americans in the United States issue warnings about the zika virus, such as Miami airport, traveling here has become an increasingly constant reality, at least in the luxury market. This is what the Ker & Downey high-standard travel agency points out.

The exclusive experience segment has seen the return of interest to places like Colombia, Peru, Patagonia and Argentina, the latter classified as “always popular” for the traveler.

“I believe there is still a threat on the zika, but it is no longer an alarmist approach. People are really coming back to South America. We are seeing a lot of growth this year. And we believe 2018 will be brilliant, “said Elizabeth Frels, Product Manager.

In search of renewing the portfolio, the company included private yacht charter trips by Colombia, expedition with pumas to the South of Patagonia and gastronomic itineraries that involve the cuisine and the art of Peru.

Not to mention Brazil, the executive says that Uruguay is the destination to be observed for the coming years. “It’s a rare jewel. We really strive to put on the radar. I would say that Uruguay and Colombia are the destinations to keep our eyes open. “
