Stay with art and tradition at Pousada dos Candeeiros. Charm and authenticity stand out in a memorable experience to the guests of the Pousada dos Candeeiros
Founded in 1996, the inn was the first lodging facility to emerge in historic downtown Carolina. Incidentally, far from being only a means of lodging, the place is an open invitation for those who desire warmth and a dip in the history of the city, since the emergence of the first houses.
Joberto Soares Guimarães, business administrator, 68 years old and Lena Maria Noleto Aires Guimarães, psychologist, 65 years together started a project that has as main value the preservation and diffusion of the Carolingian memory.
He, passionate about history and she, by art, knew with mastery to organize the inn in the smallest details taking into consideration the comfort and elegance present in the social areas and “period apartments”.
According to the owners, the name Candeeiros translates into a symbol of light, giving the enterprise the true sense of hospitality.
The Pousada dos Candeeiros preserved its architectural characteristics and its furniture and utensils that are gradually revealing the events that marked the economic and social life of the municipality.
A curiosity is that the place was one of the first to have internal bathroom and also served the whole community with water supply, through a well, even when Carolina was called the settlement of San Pedro de Alcantara.
The daily rates at the Pousada dos Candeeiros range from around R $ 110,00 per person in spacious apartments with furniture from the end of the 19th century. Breakfast is included in the daily rate and features a menu of traditional cakes, seasonal fruits and the famous mango jam. All items are handcrafted in the inn itself, giving authenticity and exclusivity.
