Reasons not to worry about your trip

According to survey conducted by Booking.com, about 47% of Brazilian travelers admit that they worry about things that can go wrong on the first day of travel. This is above the global average of 39%.

While approximately 52% of Brazilian travelers believe that the first 24 hours are the most striking, high expectations can make them worry that things are not so good.

Reasons for anxiety and nervousness

When asked about their concerns, it is clear that there is a tendency to worry more than necessary:

  • 52% worry about losing their luggage. This can be considered a distant affair, since only 13% of people have experienced it.
  • 49% worry that accommodation does not live up to expectations. However, holiday history shows that 79% were positively surprised.
  • 46% are afraid of getting sick. Failing to find a good place to eat accounted for 41%.
  • 27% care about their home and 20% say they are very technology-related or connect with people from home through social networks.
  • 14% of Brazilian travelers worry about the cost of a trip and 18% worry that they have not planned the trip enough.

Why bother?

Since Brazilians need to make the most of their travels, Booking.com has teamed up with coach and wellness specialist Sloan Sheridan-Williams to provide easy, practical tips for travelers to get in the way of travel a little earlier:

  1. For those who no longer like to line up, because most travelers are right-handed, it may be a good idea to look for the counters farthest from the entrances at the left end. Few people choose this queue because most have a tendency to choose the right queues. In a short time you will be the first to pick up the luggage and secure a great place up front.
  2. Allow your brain to adapt to the new environment. Turn off your cell phone and calm yourself by gently rubbing one or two fingers over your lips. This causes a “resting and digesting” response from the body and acts as a brake for anxiety attacks, leaving the mind calm and quiet.
  3. Take comforting items with you to help you feel at home. It can be your favorite stuffed animal, personalized cup, pillowcase, diary or a family photo. Also, it may be a good idea to have your favorite hot drink at night.
