The world list of cities that received the most tourists in 2017

Together with Euromonitor, WTM released the ranking of the most visited cities in the world in 2017 without major changes between the main ones. Hong Kong, with a drop of 3.2%, is still the global leader, surpassing 25.6 million visitors, followed by Bangkok (23.2 million), London (19.8 million) and Singapore (17, 6 million). Of these, the capital of Thailand was the one with the highest growth, with a 9.5% increase in relation to the previous year.

The list of cities that received the most tourists during the year followed with Macau in the fifth place, followed by Dubai, Paris, New York, Shenzhen (China) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) in the Top 10. In 11th, the Thai province of Phuket has achieved 14% growth this year.

The only representative of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro bitter the 93rd position in the ranking, totaling 2.2 million visitors in the year, 2.4% lower than in 2016 and that caused the city to lose five places compared to the last list.

If Phuket appears as one of the trends among the top destinations, others also stand out along the Euromonitor ranking. On the Indian side, Agra, the city where the Taj Mahal is located, gained 26.3% more visitors, rising to 6.7 million during the year, while Delhi reached the mark of 10.2 million tourists (+37.7 %) and took the place of Rome (Italy) as 12th in the ranking. Finally, Mumbai was up 23.5%, reaching 8.8 million travelers.
