Airbus launches new Cabin-Flex option

As part of its strategy to promote the efficiency of the A380 cabin, Airbus has developed a new option: the “A380 Cabin-Flex”. This solution consists of a new configuration of the passenger cabin door area upstairs, suitable for premium configuration with seat count with lower density, allowing airlines to have space to get extra seats without compromising passenger comfort. Enhancement is available for installation on the assembly line or post-installation. Qantas has chosen to be the launch operator for the A380 Cabin-Flex in its current A380 fleet from mid-2019.

The A380 Cabin-Flex provides extra space for additional seating, allowing the upper deck to be disabled in “Doors-3”. Compared to the model’s current layouts, the A380 Cabin-Flex can add up to eleven premium economy class seats or seven executive class seats. In financial terms, this translates into a typical return on investment (ROI) in about a year for the post-installation solution. The option therefore is a very effective way of increasing the count of premium seats upstairs.

The A380 is the largest and most spacious passenger aircraft in the world. It offers passengers a smoother, quieter and more comfortable ride. With a full two-story wide fuselage offering wider seats and aisles, plus more space, the A380 has the unique ability to generate revenue, stimulate traffic and attract passengers, who can now specifically select the A380 when booking a flight through the site iflyA380.com. Today, 223 A380 aircraft are operated by 13 airlines to 60 destinations, and 240 airports can receive the A380 worldwide.
