UK makes investment to use waste as air fuel

Passenger aircraft may soon be supplied with fuels developed from the garbage. The gamble is from the UK Department of Transit, which according to Travel Weekly is expected to earmark 22 million pounds, or about $ 90 million in today’s price, for the development of low- carbon content.

According to the UK body, the resulting fuel could be used for aircraft and trucks, and would be a response to growing concern about pollution and environmental damage caused by excessive garbage and high carbon emissions, as new fuels would contain low gas.

According to the report, tests of sustainable fuels made from litter have already been conducted in Europe and North America. In addition, 70 groups would have already expressed an interest in participating in the bidding of the British Department of Transit to develop similar proposals and research in the United Kingdom, using waste that would be destined to landfills.

According to the organization, the new fuels tested were “chemically similar to conventional fuels”, and could be used on aircraft without the need to retrofit their engines.

“We are committed to reducing carbon emissions and promoting new green fuels, which will help us to achieve this goal,” said Transport Minister Jesse Norman. “We are making funds available to innovative companies that will lead the development of alternative fuels that are efficient, sustainable and clean, “he continued.

The expectation is that, with funding from the UK government, five new low carbon fuel plants will be created by 2021.

“We want every new car and van in the UK to reach zero emissions by 2040, but we know that trucks and airplanes will depend on more traditional fuels, so we should promote environmentally friendly alternatives,” he argued. English transport, Jesse Norman.
