Americans Can Apply for Electronic Visa for Brazil

Since Thursday (25), tourists from the United States can apply for an entry visa in Brazil in a fully electronic process. Agility and practicality will be the great strengths of the new measure, which, between the request, presentation of the necessary documents and release for entry into the Country, will take a maximum of 72 hours.

Data from the World Tourism Organization (WTO) show that measures to facilitate the entry of tourists increase the flow of destinations by up to 25%. According to projections from the Ministry of Tourism, US visitors will spend US $ 177.6 million more in Brazil, surpassing the annual mark of R $ 600 million.

The second largest market for tourists to Brazil, the United States is behind only Argentina. Annually, Brazilian airports receive more than 570 thousand US travelers, who, in turn, leave US $ 710.5 million in the national economy.

“The numbers seem satisfactory, but they fall far short of our potential. We have ample space to increase the tourist flow between our countries with gain for all those involved,” said Tourism Minister, Marx Beltrão. According to him, Brazil wants to compete with the beaches of the Caribbean by the North American traveler.

In addition to the US and Canada, Japan and Australia are also part of the new measure, which, according to the WTO, should inject an additional R $ 1.4 billion in Brazil over the next two years.

MTur data show that 40.7% of Americans who landed in Brazil stayed in hotels, flats or inns, with 60% of them coming alone. The average daily expense was US $ 73, while the average stay was 17 days in the Country.

The United States tourist has Sao Paulo (40.4%), Rio de Janeiro (34.6%) and Salvador (3.7%) as the most sought after for corporate purposes. In leisure time, Rio (72.1%) is the main destination, followed by the capital of São Paulo (19.3%) and the state of Foz do Iguaçu (15.8%).
