Aparecida receives photographic exhibition on Jerusalem

The National Shrine today (17), the exhibition “Jerusalem – The City of Faith”. After the opening ceremony, Israel’s Consul General Dori Goren will give a lecture “Jerusalem: A Sacred City for Three Religions – A Time Trip.” The exhibition, unpublished in Brazil, presents, through photos, the sacred city for the three major monotheistic religions of the world, Christianity, Judaism and Islam. The activities are free and open to the public.

In addition to presenting the curiosities of the Old City to Brazilians, the moment is also characterized as a sign of good fellowship among religions, a topic that will be addressed in the talk of the consul. For the Sanctuary, this is an opportunity to reaffirm the efforts for peace promoted by the Catholic Church.

“It is a gesture of welcoming a country that will turn seventy in 2018. It is in this condition that we welcome this exhibition. The city of Jerusalem is a holy city, a city of peace. Therefore, this gesture also represents our search for peace, especially among religions, “said the rector of the National Shrine, Father João Batista de Almeida.

The exhibition can be given until February 28, next to the Three Fishermen’s Hall, in the basement of the National Shrine. Visits are held from Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm. On weekends, the place is open to the public from 5am to 6pm. Admission is free.
