Bahia wins flight to Panama

Bahia wins a new weekly flight to Panama, in Central America. The announcement was made by the State Tourism Secretariat and the company Copa Airlines, on Tuesday (30), during a press conference held at the Fera Palace Hotel, in the Old Center of Salvador. Scheduled to begin on July 24, the new flight will link salvador to the Panamanian capital with two weekly flights. With the new connection, by the end of the year, the State now has 29 international weekly frequencies.

According to the secretary José Alves, the action integrates the policy of the State Government to increase domestic and international tourism. “Our goal is to provide not only the arrival of tourists, but also to make it easier for Bahians to travel. It is the result of actions and investments that we are carrying out together with the airlines to prospect these flights and to promote Bahia as a destination. With each new flight we attract, we are promoting our state abroad and attracting more and more tourists. ”

 New flight

Panama’s geographic location and favorable weather conditions allow the airport to be operational 24 hours a day, year-round, which benefits the operation of Copa Airlines. According to the director of the company in Brazil, Emerson Sanglard, Bahia was chosen for its great tourism potential. “From Panama, tourists from North and Central America and the Caribbean can arrive here on a five-hour flight to enjoy the wonders of this place. It’s a two-way street that will be very positive and help attract a lot of business to this region. ”

Flight CM475, with two weekly flights, will leave Salvador on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1:45 am, arriving in Panama at 6:39 am (local time). The return flight, CM474 will leave Panama on Tuesdays and Fridays, at 3:24 pm, arriving in Salvador at 00:30 am (local time). The flights will be operated by a Boeing 737-800 with capacity for 16 passengers in business class and 138 passengers in the main cabin.

International air mail

Bahia has an international air network with 25 weekly flights, in the airports of Salvador and Porto Seguro. There are flights from TAP, Aerolineas Argentinas, Gol, Avianca and Air Europa that approach Bahia de Lisboa, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Córdoba and Bogotá. For the first half of 2018, new scheduled flights from Gol (Rosario, Argentina-Salvador) and Latam are planned for the Miami-Salvador route.
