Golf attracts more foreign tourists to the region of Lisbon

According to the survey conducted by the Lisbon Tourism Observatory, 41.6% of the golfers interviewed traveled to the region with the sole purpose of playing golf, an increase of more than 4 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year ( 37% by 2015). But the biggest increase was in terms of golfers who enjoyed a leisure trip to Lisbon, or to the region to practice the sport: 12.8% in 2015 compared to 58.4% in 2016.

There are also more and more practitioners, professionals and amateurs, who travel together and prolong their stay, in order to enjoy the much that Lisbon has to offer.

With Lisbon proving to be a surprising surprise for 21.2% of golfers and with 29.4% exceeding their expectations regarding the Portuguese capital, the stay means that 96.3% of the golfers interviewed consider probable or very probable the His return to the Lisbon Region to play golf, a considerable increase compared to the 84.4% registered in 2015. As far as the recommendation for the practice of the sport is concerned, the scenario is also encouraging for the city, with 49% of the sample Foreigners to put the Lisbon Region in the top 5 destinations to be visited (42.5% in 2015) while 48.6% to include the top 10.

Lisbon brings many golf courses, characterized by excellent technical quality and equipment, are designed by some of the most renowned architects specialized in this sector. These courses are challenging and are found in natural settings of enormous beauty, often involving singular landscapes of the sea. Highlights include Praia D’el Rey, Campo Real, Bom Sucesso, Estoril Golf, Lisbon Sports Club, Penha Longa Golf Resort in Sintra, among many others.
