Meet the artisanal cachaças that are increasing tourism in Bahia

The program that takes into account the use of typical products of Bahia in the tourism chain, an alternative for generating income for communities throughout the State, has already been implemented. Artisan drinks produced in Bahia are highlights of the Exhibition of Cachaças in the Northeast, which happens inside the Exporural, which runs until next Sunday (20), in the Parque de Exposições de Salvador. More than 20 brands of cachaça produced in the state are on display for tasting and sale.

During a visit to the exhibition, on the night of Wednesday (16), which has the support of the Secretary of State Tourism (Setur), Secretary José Alves spoke about the relationship established between typical products of Bahia and the tourism chain. “We work with the Tourism Associated Production with the intention of promoting the supply of regional products such as cachaça, hotels, inns, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops,” he explained. The official tourism of Bahia studies the request of the producers to include the drink in actions of promotion of the destination Bahia.

According to the businessman Raimundo Freire, a drink scholar and one of the exhibitors of the event, the producers from Bahia must associate to promote cachaça as a brand in Bahia. In addition to enabling product improvement, joint work can benefit tourism, with the professionalisation of visits to manufacturers, as well as wine tourism in the São Francisco Valley.

The professionalization of cachaça tourism is one of the objectives of Nelson Luz Pereira, director of the Association of Producers of Quality Spirits of the Microregion of Abaíra, responsible for one of the best-known Bahia cachaças in the Brazilian market, with annual production of 200 thousand liters.
