Airline celebrates one year in São Paulo with the launch of flights on Saturdays

Today Voom, which offers on-demand helicopter service in São Paulo and Mexico City, completes a year of activities in the city of São Paulo and, to celebrate the date, the company launches new flights on Saturdays, from 10am to 4pm . On that day, passengers will be able to fly between the region of Itaim Bibi and Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), as well as fly over the sights of the capital with the company’s panoramic flight.

On this first anniversary, Voom already demonstrates that it is a viable alternative to ground transportation and daily congestion. Since the launch of operations in São Paulo, Voom has grown 200% month-on-month in number of trips, in addition to the monthly growth of more than 220% in acquired users.

Over the past 12 months, the company expanded operations and flew four new heliports (Helicidade, Sheraton World Trade Center, Alphaville and Viracopos Airport). Voom also launched new features, such as the pre-scheduling tool, which allows passengers to book their flights up to seven days in advance, inaugurated panoramic flights so passengers can enjoy the city of São Paulo from above, and announced the transfer service from São Paulo to Alphaville and Viracopos.

During this period, Voom also learned significantly about the market and its customer base, including:

Our passengers end the work week together with Voom, making Thursday and Friday the most popular days to fly. This has changed since the celebration of 100 days in São Paulo, since, at the beginning of the operations in the city, the mid-week was the favorite period to travel.
Night flights are preferred by customers to escape rush hour traffic. Currently, the most popular time to fly with Voom is between 17h and 19h.
As ground transportation options for airports are unsustainable, travelers are finding in heaven a viable solution. The most popular routes in São Paulo are from Itaim Bibi (Blue Tree PremiumFaria Lima) to Guarulhos Airport (GRU) and from GRU to Berrini (WTC).
The duration of the flight still amounts to a fraction of the time passengers spend in the car, lasting about 11 minutes. A very fast trip, compared to the time it takes to find a parking space in the center of São Paulo.
Curiosity: Nearly half of Voom’s travelers flew by helicopter for the first time. We are very happy to continue our mission to democratize air travel.
Although Sao Paulo has several beautiful landscapes, passengers seem impressed with the traffic at Marginal Pinheiros, Instagram’s most famous landmark during the trip with Voom. Congestion is really tolerable when you can fly over it.
“It’s been an incredible journey since we launched our service in São Paulo a year ago. We are on the way to understanding the dynamics of urban aerial mobility – market needs, demographics, preferences, etc. We look forward to learning more in the second year and, more importantly, providing our passengers with an equally incredible experience, as well as what they have already enjoyed in the last 12 months, “said Uma Subramanian, CEO of Voom.

Voom continues to offer flights between eight helipads in São Paulo and in the metropolitan area of the city, as well as the panoramic route that overhangs the main tourist attractions of the capital.
