Jericoacoara Region will charge five reais fee for tourists

 

As of September 21, the region of Jericoacoara, in Jijoca de Jericoacoara, Ceará state, will charge a fee of $ 5 a day or fraction of its tourists. The practice will be applied as a Sustainable Tourism Tax, a tax established by a Municipal Law created due to the potential actual use by visitors of the physical infrastructure implemented and access to and enjoyment of the natural heritage of the Jericoacoara Village.

The beach of Jericoacoara is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, and is the largest tourist attraction of the municipality.

Reversing resources

The Village will receive 40% of the collected by the collection of the Sustainable Tax, a percentage that will be reverted in actions of environmental preservation. The remaining 60% will be shared between União, the State Government and the municipality of Camocim, located 53km from Jijoca de Jericoacoara. The funds will be spent on public cleaning, health and safety services.

Payment

The collection will be done at the Vila entrance, and the tourist must present documents for the registration. After this process, the visitor makes the payment according to the days of stay. Upon check-in at the hotel, the proof of payment needs to be submitted. The visitor can also enter the page of the Secretary of Tourism and generate the ticket for the payment. In a situation where the permanence exceeds the quantity informed of days, a new ticket will be generated to pay the excess period.

* On-site residents, disabled persons, children up to 12 years old and senior citizens over 60 years old are exempt from taxation.
