Chartered flights from abroad grow 16% in February

The number of international charter flights to Brazil grew 16% in February 2018, compared to the same period last year. In 2017, Embratur (Brazilian Tourism Institute) registered 160 charter flights, and this year it was 185. The data are from the International Airway Analysis of the Directorate of Competitive Intelligence and Tourism Promotion of the Institute, prepared monthly from information provided by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and airlines.

For Embratur president Vinicius Lummertz, this type of flight responds not only to the increase in tourism and the warming of the economy, but also to an increase in the number of visitors to Brazilian destinations. “In addition, charter flights present themselves as a comfortable alternative for international tourists. This traveler is qualified, usually does not come alone and is usually with the family, “he says.

The analysis also shows that there was an increase in the number of seats, going from 26,258 to 29,371. The charter flights to Brazil, registered this month of February, come from countries such as Algeria, Argentina, Chile, Cuba, Spain, Cape Verde, United States, Poland, Dominican Republic and Uruguay. In comparison with the previous year, there was also an increase in demand for new markets. In February 2017, the charters came from Argentina, Caribbean regions (Curaçao and Lamentin), Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.

“The expansion of international flight offers is one of the main points of the governmental agenda of Embratur and the Ministry of Tourism. The data show growth opportunity for international tourism. Aviation is an essential element for the attraction of tourists and Brazil is a long-distance destination for most of the main emitters of visitors in the world, so the importance of offering different options, “says Lummertz.
