Electronic gadgets are biggest rivals of Father’s Day trips

Traveling in Brazil is on the agenda for just over a third of parents – and who knows, they are earning this gift from their children today, on Father’s Day. The intention to travel was revealed in the most recent edition of the General Means Study conducted by Ipsos in nine metropolitan regions.

The uprising separates parents from those who still live with their children and those who no longer live with them. In the first group, 37% expect to travel around the country in the next 12 months, a rate that changes slightly, to 35% when evaluated by those who live alone or with other people.

Travel plans fall dramatically when parents are asked about going abroad. Whether due to lack of will or financial conditions, only 5% of the total said they have this intention in the next 12 months. The same percentage was observed for trips on cruises.

National travel was ahead of another big consumer dream: smartphones. Although 52 percent of the parents interviewed said they did not have a mobile device with internet access and applications, only 10 percent said they intended to buy one next year.

Electronics are the most desired gift on Father’s Day. Plasma, LCD, LED or 3D television and tablets also appear at the top of the wish list. The Ipsos survey interviewed 13,300 parents living in the metropolitan areas of. And Belo Horizonte.
