Inaugural voyage from Italy to the Far East

Reservations for the inaugural voyage of Costa Venezia’s ship, Costa Cruises, are open. The new vessel is in the final stage of construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, and the first cruise is already scheduled. The Costa Venezia departs from Trieste in Venice on March 8, 2019 for a 53-day tour in the footsteps of explorer Marco Polo. The landing will be in Yokohama, Japan, on April 29, 2019.

The Costa Venezia will take guests on a journey of discovery through different cultures, landscapes and flavors as did the Venetian explorer Marco Polo. The ship will travel across the Mediterranean and cross the Suez Canal and the Red Sea before entering the Persian Gulf, passing through Croatia, Greece, Israel, Jordan and Oman.

After reaching the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi – in the middle of the desert – the cruise goes to India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The last stop will be in the Far East, plying countries like Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan and finally Japan. In addition to the full trip, the roadmap can be divided into three parts: Trieste-Dubai (20 days) Dubai-Singapore (18 days) and Singapore-Yokohama (17 days).

The Costa Venezia is Costa Cruises’ first ship built and designed specifically to cater to the Chinese market. After the inaugural cruise, the vessel will be dedicated exclusively to the region.

The experience aboard the Costa Venezia already begins in its interior design, conveying a true “virtual” trip to Venice. Dining, entertainment and shopping options will also be unique. The hospédes can participate in the fun party “Golden Party”, inspired by the color that symbolizes fortune and health in China; and from an enchanting masked ball in memory of the famous Venice Carnival. The cuisine of the Costa Venezia will be very varied: Italian cuisine delicacies and the traditional dishes of Chinese and Asian gastronomy will be available.

The Costa Venezia has 135,000 tons and 2,116 cabins for a total of 5,260 guests. A second ship designed for the Chinese market will be delivered in Fincantieri in the year 2020. In addition to these two vessels, Costa Cruises has two other vessels scheduled for 2021. They are under construction at the Meyer shipyard in Tukur, Finland, and will be the world’s first fueled by liquefied natural gas. The first, named Costa Smeralda, will start operating in October 2019.

Costa Cruises was the first international cruise company to enter the Chinese market in 2006, where it would later become the leader. Coast cruises are known in China as “Italy at sea”, by guaranteeing an experience on board with the best of the Italian style in hospitality, gastronomy and entertainment.
