Macaé inaugurates new hotel by the sea

Hyatt Hotels Corporation today announced the opening of Hyatt Place Macaé, a contemporary hotel with smart, high-tech design in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The Hyatt Place Macae is the first branded hotel located on the waterfront in Latin America and is the second Hyatt Place hotel in Brazil, along with Hyatt Place São José do Rio Preto which opened in November 2016. The hotel is part of a master development agreement between Hyatt affiliates and Elandis to develop a total of nine network hotels throughout Brazil.

“We are delighted to expand the Hyatt Place brand to Macaé and are confident that business and leisure travelers will appreciate the innovative service concept and modern design offered by Hyatt Place Macaé,” says Luciano Julio, regional director of Operations for the Latin American brands Hyatt Place and Hyatt House. “This opening marks the fourth Hyatt property in the country and the second Hyatt Place brand hotel in Brazil, which strengthens Hyatt’s position in the country’s primary and secondary cities.”

The Hyatt Place brand was designed after extensive consumer research that indicated that guests sought sophisticated and comfortable experiences that fit both their professional lifestyle and their family routine.

Elandis led the design, planning and construction of the project with Hyatt employing more than 40 associates to manage and operate the hotel.

“We are excited to see this hotel become a reality under our joint venture with Hyatt and look forward to seeing Macaé grow as a business and leisure destination,” says Alexandros Kallantzis, Head of Brazil, Elandis. “We are proud to have delivered the project successfully, on time and within budget.”

Located 177km northeast of Rio de Janeiro, the city of Macaé is known as Brazil’s “National Petroleum Capital”. It maintains a robust offshore oil industry that brings executives from all over the country and the world to the city for commercial purposes. The new categorization of the Ministry of Tourism (MTur) places Macaé at the top of the national tourism ranking, placing Macaé among the best-equipped cities for tourism in the country. The attentive service offered at Hyatt Place Macae will provide business and leisure travelers with the best hospitality option when visiting the city.

Currently, Hyatt’s Brazilian portfolio consists of two luxury hotels: Grand Hyatt São Paulo, Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro and now two hotels, including Hyatt Place São José do Rio Preto and Hyatt Place Macaé.
