Tourism leaders support intervention in Rio de Janeiro

Last Saturday (17), in a meeting in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, leaders of the tourist trade of the city, the largest entrance portal of the country for foreign tourists, gave the president of Embratur, Vinicius Lummertz, full support to the action of the Federal Government to guarantee the public order and security of the population of Rio de Janeiro.

“What I heard from all the leaderships was that the action came at a right time, when things were getting out of hand. At first we already feel this strong presence of the military, which will certainly bring positive repercussions outside the country. This will translate into positive perception of security and more tourists, “commented Lummertz.

The president of the Foundation for the Promotion of Tourism of the State of Rio (Turisrio), Paulo Senise, went further: “tourism in the city and state were waiting for such action.”

The director of ABIH-RJ, Ronnie Arosa, also supported. “We have had public records this summer and especially at the carnival, but now we will be safer to continue our publicity because we know that security will improve,” said the ABIH official.

Paulo Michel, also representative of the ABIH of Rio de Janeiro, was another member of the tourist trade that was enthusiastic about the action. “I ran to put Brazilian flags in our hotels, as all my colleagues are doing. We have to support this action. We will certainly have better days in security, which will further improve the flow of tourists, “commented the hotel manager.
