Tourism opens negotiations with international investors

Representatives of the Brazilian government began on Thursday (15) negotiations with international businessmen interested in investing in Brazil. Coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism, representatives of several Brazilian states presented, during the main world event of the real estate sector, the Mipim, in Cannes, France, a bill of $ 2.3 billion in projects under development in Brazil. On the list are hotels, theme parks, marinas and convention center.

As a result of previous editions of MIPIM, Brazil was able to capture the first venture of the international hotel chain Six Senses in South America. The $ 1.5 billion project will be built in Rio Grande do Norte, 90 kilometers from the capital, Natal , in an area of ​​2,500 hectares. “We will certainly have other investments in Brazil. We have analyzed some options in Rio and Janeiro and in São Paulo. Brazil has a number of areas that fit our investment profile. It’s our priority for the next seven years, “said Six Senses president Wolf Hengst.

“This is the best time to invest in Brazil. After a long crisis, since the second half of last year, the country has seen clear and uncontested signs of recovery, “said José Antônio Parente, the national secretary for Tourism Structuring. He pointed out that Brazil is the seventh largest economy in the world, has a tourism consumer market with more than 60 million people and has lines of credit for good initiatives.

“Brazil has awakened to its potential and promoted structural reforms capable of unleashing the nodes that had hampered the development of the country for decades,” the secretary added. The reforms promoted by the government and the package of measures aimed at improving the tourism business environment in Brazil were also addressed. Representatives of the Brazilian government emphasized the reduction of inflation and GDP growth to stimulate investors to invest in the country.

Specifically in tourism, the implementation of the electronic visa for Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States, within Brazil + Tourism, stands out, with the goal of inserting 40 million Brazilians in the travel market and promoting a jump in the international arrival of current 6.6 million to 12 million foreign tourists by 2022.

After the presentations, the representatives of the Brazilian government answered questions from the press and the investors present at the site. The world’s leading real estate event in the world, Mipim takes place every year in March in Cannes, France. In addition to the representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, the Brazilian Ambassador to France, Paulo Oliveira Campos, and representatives from the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio Grande do Norte, Macapá, Manaus and Canela participated in the event.
