Young and old are the ones who travel the most in Brazil alone

Traveling is very good, be it with family, friends, couple or even alone, although some travelers twist their nose when the option is to enjoy a new destination without the company of anyone. Despite being an option that causes strangeness in some people, data from the Ministry of Tourism indicate that the number of unaccompanied travelers has been growing in recent years, and women are the ones who have most ventured into this mode.

A survey released in 2017, with 2,000 Brazilian families, showed that of the women surveyed, 17.8% had the intention to travel alone, while the men’s index reached 11.8%. Travel consultant Ana Carolina, of Flyworld Alphaville, in the city of Campinas, reinforces the information that it is a growing number: about 25% of people who are looking for travel packages are interested in traveling alone.

The profile of travelers is made up of single people, aged between 18 and 24, but it is a reality that is changing. “In recent years, the number of elderly people who are looking for excursions that they can do alone has increased significantly, reaching the same percentage of young people,” said Ana Carolina.

The most popular national destinations are: Porto Seguro (BA), Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Florianópolis (SC). “The festive climate of both cities, the various entertainment opportunities, be it day or night, is what attracts tourists who travel alone to these places, because the chance to make new friends is immense,” he explains.

For those looking for an international trip, the most popular destinations are Amsterdam, Prague, Barcelona and Copenhagen. “When I set up a road map for the customer who chooses to travel alone, I indicate the best places to eat, subway / train schedules, ticket prices and hours of operation of the main city tours, among others. In this way it is possible to have lots of fun and safely, “explains Ana Carolina.

Travelers who will have their first experience should keep an eye on the tips of those who understand the subject. “Anyone who is traveling alone needs to plan the script and get it printed for safety. Making copies of the documents is very important, especially in international travel. Knowing a little of the local language will make traveling easier, as well as staying in a hostel, where it is possible to make friends more easily. Try to take as few things as possible so your mobility does not get hampered and, above all, manage your money! “, ends.
