Cruise company announces grandiose and historic new ship building that opens ultra quantum class

In a mood of great excitement, Royal Caribbean International on Tuesday marked the official start of construction of the Quantum Ultra, cutting the first piece of steel for the vessel at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The next engineering marvel that will be part of the innovative cruise company’s fleet will be officially christened Spectrum of the Seas.

Expected to be released in 2019, Spectrum will be the next evolution of the Quantum class, characterized by its pioneering and high technology, and will join the sister ships, Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas. The new vessel will be designed specifically for guests in China and the Asia-Pacific region, and will feature unprecedented experiences and amenities.
