Cruise company announces newness in the team of chefs

MSC Cruises announces a new partnership with the award-winning Spanish chef, Ramón Freixa, starting in April. Freixa incorporates the excellence of Spanish cuisine to its innovative and modern style, and will further enrich the shipowner’s exquisite dining offerings.

The initiative was launched at an exclusive event held at the Freixa restaurant in Madrid at the Hotel Unico – which has two Michelin Stars. Exceptional main dishes and the famous tapas developed by the chef will be introduced throughout the fleet, as well as an exclusive selection of dishes specially prepared for the Christmas and New Year menus. The company also has an ongoing plan to launch a gastronomic cruise dedicated to gastronomic lovers from all over the world who are looking for the best meal and travel experience.

Working together with the renowned team of chefs from MSC Cruises, Ramón Freixa will conduct intensive and interactive training, through which he will convey his skill and experience so that all the chefs of the shipbuilder recreate their dishes on board and reproduce them maintaining the highest standards.

Freixa is known for its ability to balance tradition and avant-garde, drawing inspiration from the roots of the Mediterranean. With two restaurants in the Spanish capital, one in Columbia, appearances in the Spanish edition of Celebrity Masterchef and author of four books, the chef has international recognition.

An award-winning team of international chefs

Chef Freixa joins the other five internationally renowned chefs who are currently collaborating with MSC Cruises. More recently, in December 2017, the Asian restaurant with the signature of Roy Yamaguchi, aboard the MSC Seaside, received its first guests. This innovative pan-Asian culinary experience has three distinct restaurants: Teppanyaki, Sushi and Asian Fusion. This concept will also be available on MSC Seaview, the ship’s next ship, which will open in June this year.

Recently, the company also announced that Joe Bastianich, owner of an award-winning restaurant, author and TV personality, will create a dish especially for MSC Seaside, in tune with the North American market. In addition, guests embarking on MSC Meraviglia can discover the pleasures of chocolate through the delights of award-winning chocolatier and pastry chef Jean Philippe-Maury. The company also plans to extend this partnership to MSC Bellissima, which will be launched in March 2019.

Acclaimed Chinese chef Jereme Leung, for his part, continues to work with MSC Cruises and has developed a new restaurant for the MSC Splendida, the Sea Pavilion. Carlo Cracco, who has Michelin Star, has been collaborating with the company for five years, developing special dishes for the Gala and Christmas and New Year menus, as well as for DOREMI Chef by Carlo Cracco, a culinary activity for kids.
