Agreement of open skies between Brazil and US is approved in the Chamber

The House plenary approved the Draft Legislative Decree (PDC) 424/16, an “open skies” agreement that overrides the limitation of the number of flights imposed by the current legislation to the airlines that operate flights between Brazil and the United States.
The matter, which will be sent to the Senate, also allows airplanes from both countries to fly over each other’s territory without landing, and who have the right to make stops for non-commercial purposes.
According to Agência Brasil, the Itamaraty expects that the feasibility of the document will allow the opening of new destinations and airports with flights to the United States. There is also a forecast that the increased offer of flights will have an impact on the price of air tickets.
