Brazilian Visitation in the United States falls

The visit of Brazilians to the United States should resume from 2018. According to a forecast released by the US Department of Commerce, the country should send more than 1.65 million tourists between January and December this year.

Brazil is expected to lose one more position and become the seventh largest emitting market in the United States. The main destination countries in visitation follow the sequence: United Kingdom, Japan, China, Germany, South Korea and France. Frontiers, Mexico and Canada do not come into the account.

In contrast, 2017 brought a negative result in the issuance of Brazilians. With an estimated drop of 7%, the country must have closed the year with 1.57 million travelers to the US destination. The final figures were not released.

This retraction, however, is not exclusive to the Brazilian market. Among the top ten international issuers, six showed a reduction in the number of tourists in this first year of government Donald Trump.

In summary, the United States received 75.1 million international visitors last year, down 1 percent from 2016, the agency said. The US Travel Association has revealed in recent weeks a drop of 3.3% in foreign spending.

The US department’s forecast is that the United States will receive 88.95 million tourists from other countries by 2022. Compared to 2016, there is an estimated increase of 17%.

Brazil will have sent a total of 1.84 million travelers there, up 2% compared to 2021.

After the September 11 attacks in 2001, the country had a significant decline in the number of foreigners. In the year following the bombing, 41.2 million visitors were registered. The resumption took place again from 2006, with more than 51 million.
