It’s time to harvest in the Serra Gaúcha

After a year of many cares, hard work and special deals in the vineyards, Serra Gaúcha is ready to receive tourists from all over Brazil in order to live the experience of the Harvest. Between the months of January and March farmers, oenologists and their teams celebrate grapevines loaded with grapes with the fruit harvest that gives rise to the main tourist product of the region: wine.

Visit to the vineyard, harvest and the traditional steps of the grapes, tasting course, harmonized lunch, typical snack and visit to caves are some of the attractions that are part of the tourist program of that period. In addition to appreciating the work done by the winegrowers throughout the year, the Harvest is a possibility for the community and tourists to revive the customs and memories of the Italian settlers of the region.

There are options of tours and programming of Harvest for all audiences. The ‘Fascínios da Vindima’ itinerary allows a full day of programming and visits to three wineries in the region – Cainelli, Salton and Cristofoli. Each winery has a different program: visiting the family museum, harvesting the grapes, merendim (snack typical of Italian immigrants with cheese, glass, salami, homemade breads, cookies, wine, grape juice and water) tuque (truck carrying grape), treads of grapes, visit to the cellars, wine course with chocolates and cheeses, and lunch of the Italian family harmonized with wines and sparkling wines.

During the tour, the tourist also knows the Rio das Antas Valley, a region that houses the Salton and Cainelli wineries in a lush landscape. Inns, canteens, restaurants, wineries and stills located in the valley tell different aspects of Italian immigration providing an experience of approaching local history and nature.

Those who do not have much time available can opt for the itinerary ‘Vindima no Vale’, which lasts half a shift and reunites a visit to Vinícola Miolo, steps of the grapes and merendim.
