Spain becomes second most visited country in the world

Juan Antonio Ruiz Morales, director of Turespaña in Brazil, said that 2017 was the best year for tourism in Spain in all times. “In 2015, we recorded a record with 432 thousand Brazilian tourists. The following year, due to the crisis, the fall was brutal and we received 100 thousand Brazilians less. But in 2017 there was an extraordinary turnaround! By the end of November we had almost reached the same number in 2015. We do not have the official figures for December yet, but we believe we will exceed our record for at least 20,000 tourists, “Ruiz anticipated.

Still according to the director of Tourism of Spain in Brazil, the Brazilian is the one that spends the most in the country – about 200 euros per day against an average of 120 euros a day spent by the European traveler. Other relevant information is that the Brazilian tourist usually stays in hotels of 4 and 5 stars, which qualifies Brazil very well in the ranking of the priority markets of Turespaña. “The official numbers will be informed soon, but we can celebrate,” reinforces Ruiz.

Mariano Rajoy, Spanish Prime Minister, announced on Thursday that the European country received 82 million tourists in 2017 – 9% more than in 2016 – and became the second most visited in the world, second only to the France. The United States is in third place in the preference of world travelers.
