Spanish region keeps tourism pace after attack

The recent terrorist attacks in Cambrils, a city close to Barcelona, ​​have not negatively influenced the tourists going to Spain. At least that is what affirms the association of Tourism of Cambrils, to about 1h15 of Barcelona.

The Federation of Hostelry and Tourism in Tarragona, through its president Eduard Farriol, affirms that the cancellations in reservations and lodging in the municipalities of Costa Dourada have been “virtually zero”.

“Existing reserves in the hotel sector in Salou, Cambrils and La Pineda remained stable as a result of those in Barcelona and cancellations in Cambrils should not reach 1%, reported the agent.

Overnight stays at resorts south of Barcelona grew 4% in the first two weeks of August compared to the same period in 2016, but before the terrorist incident on August 18.

Reserves for September have maintained a “normal pace,” Farriol said. He regrets the events of the last days and expresses his regret for the victims of events in both cities.

At dawn on Friday (18), the Catalan police reported the deaths of five suspects in to prevent a possible attack in Cambrils. Before they were killed, the men ran over civilians. Seven people were injured, including a policeman and a woman, who died.
