Israel releases millions for investment in new hotel rooms

In an effort to expand the hotel offerings, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism has released more than 180 million new Israeli shekels (NIS) – about $ 165 million – in concessions for entrepreneurs. The idea is that this amount be invested in the construction of 2,570 rooms in 35 hotels distributed throughout the country.

The intention is that the portfolio and the entrepreneurs work together not only in the construction of new hotels, but also in the expansion and conversion of properties. The largest amount – NIS 35 million or $ 32 million – will be used to preserve and build a 248-room budget hotel in Jerusalem.

In all, the capital of the country has received approval of five projects that will add 482 rooms. The cities of Netanya and Rishon Le Zion will respectively earn a hotel of 356 and 240 apartments.

An outing described as a holiday village in Sde Boker will gain another 42 rooms. Still, Be’er Sheyva will also have a boutique hotel of only 50 rooms. Two conversions will be made in Ein Bokek (Dead Sea) and a 275-room luxury property will be erected in Bat Yam.

Details on possible international or national flags have not yet been revealed. The cities not covered by the investment package are Tel Aviv and Herzliva. “This is a response to the growth of incoming tourism and, at the same time, will lead us to lower prices,” said the country’s tourism minister Yariv Levin

The Israeli ministry did not report the start and completion of the works.
