Uruguay: party takes over the country on August 24

 

“La Noche de La Nostalgia” has been held since 1978, every August 24 and precedes the Uruguayan Independence Day (25 August). All venues: bars, restaurants, nightclubs and casinos adhere to the celebration. The celebration takes its name because it plays the best “ballads” from the 50s to the 90s, where the night tanners can kill the homesickness and revive the successes of the time, it takes all type of audience and age group. It’s a completely democratic night, where you can enjoy and dance in a public or private place.

They are the most varied versions of parties: dinners shows, dance floors and fancy parties. The dishes, drinks, decor and even clothes are conceptualized with the theme of the party. Uruguay invites tourists and locals to a real trip back in time, which began with Pablo Lecueder, owner of one of the biggest Uruguayan radio stations, when he organized a party with the “old” musical successes until the 70’s, on the eve of Independence Day Uruguayan The night was so successful that it still exists today.

Over the years, various dance clubs, groups of friends and families have begun their vintage musical celebration. Queen, The Beatles, Dire Straits, Cyndi Lauper, Supertramp, Elvis Presley and Bee Gees are some of the artists who sound in “Nostalgia Night.” Disco music and new romantics invade the dance lanes lit by mirror balls and colorful lasers. There are currently more than 50 parties that are part of Uruguayan tradition and culture.
