Brazil and Japan close partnership to stimulate tourism

Memorandum of understanding signed by the National Secretary for Tourism Promotion and Qualification, Teté Bezerra, and the president of the Japanese Tourism Agency, Akihiko Tamura, foresees the improvement of relations between the two countries, with the sharing of ideas and projects to increase the flow bilateral tourism. “We have adopted a series of measures to open Brazil to the foreign market. Japan is on our list of priorities. Anyone who chooses to visit Brazil will be able to request the electronic document and receive the answer within 72 hours, “commented Teté Bezerra. On average, the previous deadline was 40 days. In 2016, Brazil received 79.7 thousand Japanese tourists who injected US $ 81.3 million into the national economy. According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), travel facilitation measures increase the flow between the countries in question by up to 25%. So, by projection, numbers can jump to 100,000 travelers – 20,000 more than the current number – and $ 101.6 million in revenue.
