Freddie Mercury wins tribute by plane in Europe

One of the greatest vocalists in the history of music will be honored by an airline. Former Queen leader Freddie Mercury will print the tail of two Norwegian Air planes.

The novelty will debut in the skies in this year’s European summer, which will coincide with the singer’s 71st birthday, born on September 5, 1946, in the former territory of Zanzibar, where it is now Tanzania. The first announced jet will be a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the second a B737-800. The choice of routes is open.

The choice of Freddie Mercury is not for nothing. In addition to its importance for music, Norwegian has started a program called Tail Fin Heroes, in which European characters are honored with their portraits painted by plane. Names such as actress Greta Garbo, the painter Edvard Munch and the writer Hans Christian Andersen have figured over the years.

The former Queen vocalist will be the 50th recognized by the air, followed by the newly announced Bobby Moore, capital of the English football world champion in 1966, author Roald Dahl, aviation pioneer Amy Johnson and aviation entrepreneur Freddie Laker .
