Enjoy festivals all over the country.
The famous music festivals are a major attraction in the Czech Republic. Prague’s Spring Festival, the famous classical music festival is held annually (more than 70 years ago), with the participation of the best musicians from around the world. Fans of rock and other musical genres eagerly await the first days of July to visit the cities of Hradec Králové and Ostrava.
Colors of Ostrava among the best
Considered by the British Guardian newspaper as one of the best musical events in Europe, the Colors of Ostrava festival has been repeating itself with great success since 2002, the date of its first edition and has already established itself as one of the most popular cultural events in the Czech Republic.
A lot of it because Ostrava has been visited by stars like Björk, Bobby McFerrin, Alanis Morissette, John Newman, Sigur Rós and the French singer ZAZ. This year they announced visitUnderworld, M83 and also the writer Robert Fulghum.
Colors of Ostrava takes place in the former metallurgical industry of Dolní Vítkovice, inscribed on the World Heritage List of Europe. And that is constantly improving its appearance – proof of this is the new Tower Bolt, which is named after the athlete Usain Bolt, who participated in the competition Zlatá tretra (the Golden Shoe). The industrial complex of the Hlubina mine and other buildings of the place are becoming the fertile cultural land of Ostrava and, in July, the whole of the Czech Republic, when the festival Cores de Ostrava takes place.
Rock for People shines among the “fixed stars”
During the event the surroundings of Hradec Králové airport become a sea of tents full of fans of quality music, called Rock for People. The name of the festival can lead to confusion because you do not just play rock, although this is still the protagonist. The next edition will be in the early days of July and the city of Hradec Králové in eastern Bohemia will show that Rock for People lives up to its fame.
Other musical events
Throughout the summer, the music festivals go to the Czech and Moravian castles, for their ambiance. Concerts and musical performances reach castles and palaces throughout the Czech Republic. Very popular the festival Benátská realized in the city of Liberec. Those who like Gone punk and punkrock, rock’n’roll, hardcore, reggae, ska, rockabilly or indie rock, should go in late July to Tábor at the Mighty Sounds festival, where 80% of the bands are foreign.
Visitors to the Czech Republic are also interested in the brutal Assault festival of metal music, the only one of its kind, held in the historic Josefov Fortress. The fort itself is quite attractive, and by taking advantage of the festival you can devote yourself to other tourist activities, such as visiting cities of Opočno or Nové Město nad Metují.
