Switzerland National Day Week: See options for active tourism in the country

This week in which the Swiss celebrated Switzerland’s National Day (01/08), the country once again calls attention as a versatile tourist spot in the summer of Europe. World renowned for its famous chocolates, cheeses and tranquility, Switzerland goes much further when it comes to active tourism for travelers who want to work their bodies and minds. Hiking, paddling and paddling amongst beautiful mountains, lakes and green fields. Skating, parachuting and stand up paddle. These are some of the options of active tourism offered by the country, one of the most inviting destinations for those who seek experiences that leave the sameness and take the visitor to interact with spectacular landscapes.

Located in central Switzerland, the city of Lucerne offers a variety of outdoor sports activities during all seasons, but especially in summer, when the days are longer, it gets very dark, the colors of the lakes intensify in emerald green and Nature and fields are a daily invitation for the tourist to always be outdoors. Regardless of the option made, all walks offer panoramic views of the high mountains and traditional Swiss villages.

Lucerne provides experiences that remain forever in the traveler’s memory. Trails that tell centuries of history and present the tourist with an unforgettable sunset. Golf in a countryside setting overlooking a singular mountainous panorama. Mountain biking in beautiful paths between mountains. Add to that the cool alpine air typical of Switzerland.

The Lake Lucerne region, Switzerland’s fourth largest, has everything the tourist could want in terms of active and relaxing leisure. It is the ideal place to exercise body and mind, explore the city on foot or by bike and stop to contemplate the landscape. For travelers who choose their destination, the hotel and transport networks are world references for quality, punctuality and connections, that is, it is possible to get anywhere without depending on the car and also use other means of transport such as the bicycle. And it is always important to remember the intense cultural programming, such as music festivals in the summer of Europe (Lucerne takes place from August 18 to September 10), and the vast array of gastronomic options.

Another highlight in the region is Titlis, the only glacier with tourist access. It is the perfect panoramic view to the snowy mountains and untouched alpine landscapes. In summer, the attraction for adults and children is the Glacier Park, with several slides and snowtubes. In the area, there are also walking routes for all levels of difficulty and duration.

Some suggestions for routes:

Bicycle and mountain bike

Around Lucerne and region

The route passes through Seetal and the region of Sempachersee to Willisau. From Willisau, continue to Sörenberg and return to Lucerne via the Glaubenbielen pass. A little later, an almost surprising calm in the woods and the countryside. Then the lakes of Baldegger and Sempach soothe the eyes and the mind. In beautiful little towns at the end of the stage, one can taste the Ringli Willisauer.

Napf Bike / Bern – Lucerne

Between Bern and Lucerne there is, next to the Emmental, a mountainous landscape ideal for mountain bike tours. The highlight is the Napf, with an unforgettable panoramic view.

Gottardo Bike Pass

The most famous alpine passes, St. Gotthard, Furka, Nufenen, Susten, Grimsel, Oberalp, Lukmanier and Klausen await to be explored. With the Bike Pass, you get the required stamp at the time of the pass, after winning the altitude meters. After crossing all the alpine passes, there is a personal certificate.

Hiking

The Way of Switzerland

The Swiss Trail is the most famous hiking route in the country. It passes through historic sites of the confederation. In the celebration of 700 years of confederation (1291-1991), the route of 35 km was created, in a cooperation of all the cantons. It is divided into stages, part of which is accessible to wheelchair users, as well as by ship or train. It begins in Rütli, birthplace of the confederation, circles the Urnersee and ends at Brunnen, on the Platz der Auslandschweizer.

Walk of the 4 lakes / Melchsee-Frutt – Engelberg (Trübsee)

The walk of the 4 lakes is one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. The starting point is the cable car station on the mountain in Melchsee-Frutt.
