Brazil and United Arab Emirates visa waiver enters into force

The agreement that exempts the mandatory visa for entry of Brazilians in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is already in force. The text approved by the Federal Senate in the last month of 2017 allows travelers to travel between Brazil and the Arab country without the need for the document for business and tourism purposes for up to 90 days, in each 12-month period.

The agreement provides that holders of common, diplomatic and special passports from both countries are exempt from visa requirements. The same exemption for diplomats and holders of a special passport had been valid since March last year.

The prospects of this agreement between the Brazilian and Arab governments point to the expansion of tourism and business travel between the countries, mainly to the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The exemption, however, does not allow travelers from either nation to work or study in their respective countries without specific authorization.
